Day 2-3  Windhoek - Sossusvlei

After breakfast, we head to Sesriem (340 km, approx. 5 hours) via very scenic and inspiring semi-desert landscapes. On this road, we can stop at Rehoboth (93km, 1.5 hours) for refreshments. A further (160km, 2 hours) takes to the desert town of Solitaire for a snack/lunch. On arrival at Sossusvlei Desert Camp in the afternoon enjoy the solitude of your desert lodge.

On Day 3, we rise early to visit the iconic Sossusvlei, Deadvlei & Sesriem Canyon for a day outing including a picnic “Braai.” The drive to Sossusvlei doubles as a game drive.  In the evening, once again, you’ll be treated to Fleet Foot’s freshly prepared bush cuisine cooked over the open fire under the stars.

Meals: B, L, D

Accommodation: Sossusvlei Desert Camp

Day 4-5  Swakopmund

After breakfast, we head to Swakopmund (345km, approx 5 hours). This morning you’ll leave the Namib Desert, and you’ll drive north through beautiful canyons and striking scenery as you head towards to the lovely town of Swakopmund on the Skeleton Coast. On our way there we’ll stop at Solitaire again should you need a snack or refreshments. Walvis Bay is a stunning spot just outside Swakopmund. Sheltered by the Pelican Point sand spit, Walvis Bay’s tidal lagoon is home to abundant birdlife, including flamingos and pelicans. Swakopmund itself is a former colonial town famous for its German architecture and culture - many residents speak German and there's even an Oktoberfest beer festival. It is an ideal place to spend a couple of days between visiting the dunes of Sossusvlei and exploring the attractions of northern Namibia.

On Day 5, you’ll have a full day to explore Swakopmund and the surrounding area. Included is the fascinating Living Desert Guided Excursion. You can search for Cape Fur seals and dolphins off Pelican Point on a boat cruise or guided kayaking trip, join a bird watching excursion or a living desert tour, or you may wish to visit the Swakopmund Lighthouse, the Swakopmund Museum, and Sandwich Harbour. These activities can be added into your tailor-made tour for an extra cost. Just outside Swakopmund, several sand dunes have been set aside for adventure activities, including sand boarding, quad biking, camel riding, and off-road driving. Swakopmund has a nice selection of restaurants serving great cuisine – lunch and dinner will be for your own account.

Meals: B

Accommodation: Villa Margherita

Day 6-7  Swakopmund - Damaraland

This morning we will resume your Namibian safari tour and head further north up the Skeleton Coast to Khorixas (460km, 6 hours) in Damaraland. En route we recommend that you stop at Henties Bay to see the Cape Cross seal colony and we’ll visit the shipwreck of MS Winston at Durissa Bay. On our way, we’ll stop for a picnic lunch and refreshments prepared by your guide. On arrival at Khorixas ( you’ll settle into your accommodation, and you can spend the afternoon relaxing at your lodge, or if you wish you can take a walk in the surrounding area, stopping at viewpoints to marvel at the beautiful Damaraland landscape.

On Day 7, you’ll have the opportunity to take an elephant nature drive in search of Namibia's desert-dwelling elephant and visit Burnt Mountain to see the rock engravings at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein.

Meals: B, D

Accommodation: Camp Kipwe

Day 8-10  Etosha

After breakfast, we’ll drive east towards Etosha National Park (250km, 3 hours, depending on what game we encounter en route). 135km From Khorixas we pas the village of Outjo where snacks and refreshments can be had. Etosha offers fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities, particularly around the waterholes. You can expect to see elephant, giraffe, lion, leopard, zebra, springbok and gemsbok and it’s also one of the best places in Southern Africa to see the endangered cheetah, black rhino and rare antelope species such as black-faced impala, Damara dik-dik and roan antelope. Staying within the park makes for the best experience of Etosha.

Over the course of 3 days, you’ll have ample opportunity to explore Etosha by means of extended game drives, daily. This means we can take our time visiting the many different waterholes such as Halali, Okondeka, and Okaukuejo, where large concentrations of wildlife congregate with your knowledgeable guide. Almost a quarter of Etosha consists of salt pans, including the Etosha Pan which is undoubtedly the park’s most distinctive and dramatic feature. The Etosha Pan is the only known mass breeding ground for flamingos in Namibia, and at times there can be up to a million flamingos here.

Meals: B, D

Accommodation: Okaukuejo Camp / Namutoni

Day 11  Etosha - Okonjima

This morning you’ll leave Etosha and head south to the Okonjima Nature Reserve (360 km, 4.5 hours) which is home of the famous AfriCat Foundation - an education and research facility dedicated to the rehabilitation of Namibia's big cats, particularly cheetah and leopard. On the road we pass three large villages (Tsumeb, Otavi & Otjiwarongo) to buy and stop for refreshments should you want to.

During your time at Okonjima, you’ll have an opportunity to observe and learn about AfriCat’s conservation work. Depending on your interests, you can also take part in the following optional activities: go mountain biking or hike up the mountains to watch the sunrise. You can also join a bird-watching excursion to spot some of the 250+ species of birdlife in the area; enjoy a nocturnal game drive, or you can experience a day in the life of a San Bushman on a bushman trail.
