The world and africa
Africa is the world’s second largest continent that covers 6% of the earth’s total surface, and 20% of the planet's land area. The continent follows Asia with the highest number of the human population amounting to about 1.2 billion in 2016. With Africa’s massive land area stretching from Northern to Southern Hemisphere, countries in the continent have varying climates, weathers and seasons in a year. The continent also hosts diverse ethnicities, cultures, tradition, and languages. Africa is widely accepted as the origin of the first human species. The earliest hominids and its ancestors, as well as the earliest Homo sapiens, were found in Ethiopia about 200,000 years ago. The continent possesses a rich history of its people and lands that undergone European colonization. Current African states were the result of decolonization in the 20th century, and through the African Union, the cooperation of African countries continue.
